Home owner sues Council, Builder and Developer for alleged foundation defects

We act for Henry Wiraja who​ bought his first home in the Auckland suburb of Massey in February 2013​, thinking because it was only about six months old and recently received its council code compliance certificate, it was unlikely to have any problems.

A structural engineer’s report found foundations weren’t secured properly, joists that supported his bathroom and ensuite floor had been cut through to make room for drainpipes and insulation​, and fixings were missing from his roof, with some structural trusses detaching​.

He is now suing the developer of the property Shah Homes Ltd, the builder, and Auckland Council that certified it.
